Brands & Bloggers: Communication is Key {#BlogFrogRocks}

This is me: Angie the mom, Angie the wife, Angie the teacher, and Angie the blogger. As a blogger, I get the opportunity to work with some really amazing brands. Sometimes these opportunities come about because I am part of the BlogFrog Influencer Circle, a great group of bloggers and influencers who work with brands. In the years that I?ve been working with brands, there have been a few bad experiences, but many great ones that have paved the way for more opportunities to do what I love ? share tips, advice, and brands I love with other moms.

Over the years, I have created many beneficial friendships and relationships with brand representatives, many that I continue to work with year after year. There is one main thing that has kept these relationships going ? communication. Keeping the flow of information going for both sides is critical. The brand relationships that I?ve had throughout the years that have not thrived have many times fell victim to a lack of communication from either or both sides.

Being up front and honest is number one. I have been known to tell a brand representative up front that I would love to work with them, BUT I am booked through the next four weeks and it will be next month before I can get that posted, or that the post I had scheduled to go live for them will have to be postponed a few days because I have a sick child or a family emergency. These things happen, and being honest and up front as soon as possible will help things flow smoothly. The truth is that I am a mom and a wife, but I am also a blogger. And while my job as a mom and wife is more important, I still need to act professional as a blogger.

Clear and efficient communication from a brand representative is always a huge plus in my book. Letting me know exactly what they are looking for, and expecting is key and helps me be clear on what i am supposed to do. Clearly communicating deadlines and details is essential, and the more efficient their communication is, and the less amount of emails we can do it in is super cool for me. We?re all pretty busy, right?! Having a personal relationship with brand representatives is always helpful too. Last thing I want is to feel like ?just another blogger.? :)
